World Beatles Day
January 16 · Level 8 · #551 of 2238
World Beatles Day is an informal fan celebration of Liverpool’s famous quartet. It is a chance to revisit favourite records and follow the band’s changing sound, from early rock and roll to adventurous studio experiments.
How it is celebrated: fans organise listening sessions, themed gatherings and tribute performances. Record collections, photographs and stories about discovering the band provide plenty of material for conversation between songs.
The date has a Liverpool connection: the Cavern Club opened on 16 January 1957, originally as a jazz venue. It later became one of the places most closely associated with the Beatles’ early career.
