Teachers’ Day in Thailand
January 16 · Level 4 · #1471 of 2238

Thailand’s Teachers’ Day recognises educators and the lasting influence they have on their students. It offers an occasion to thank mentors for knowledge, patience and encouragement remembered long after school ends.
How it is celebrated: teachers attend recognition ceremonies, award presentations and gatherings with colleagues. Events may include Buddhist observances and remembrance of teachers who have died, while former students send messages of appreciation.
Teachers’ Day is distinct from wai khru, the school ceremony in which pupils formally show respect to their teachers. Wai khru usually takes place near the beginning of the academic year, giving gratitude more than one place in the calendar.
