All-Ukrainian Libraries Day
September 30 · Level 3 · #1579 of 2238
All-Ukrainian Libraries Day celebrates libraries and the people who connect readers with books, information and new interests. It recognises the work behind every useful recommendation, carefully preserved volume and successful search for an elusive source.
How it is celebrated: libraries organise book displays, author events, tours and public readings. Visitors explore collections and services, while library staff receive congratulations for their work.
Ukraine established the occasion by presidential decree in 1998. Its name celebrates libraries across the whole country, giving both major research institutions and small local branches a place in the festivities.
