Purple Day

Purple Day brings people together to raise awareness of epilepsy and support those living with it. The campaign encourages open conversations and challenges the misconceptions that can leave people feeling excluded because of their diagnosis.

How it is celebrated: supporters wear purple clothes or accessories, share personal experiences and take part in awareness events. Community groups and charities also organize fundraising activities and opportunities to learn about epilepsy.

The idea came from a nine-year-old: Cassidy Megan of Canada started Purple Day in 2008. Living with epilepsy herself, she wanted others with the condition to know they were not alone.
