Arbor Day in Jordan

Jordan’s Arbor Day encourages tree planting and care for existing greenery. In a country with limited water resources, it also draws attention to the practical work needed to help young trees survive.

How it is celebrated: schools, volunteers and public institutions take part in planting activities. Environmental events introduce trees suited to local conditions and explain the continuing care that saplings need after the planting day is over.

January is a sensible planting season here. Winter brings rain to much of Jordan, giving young trees a chance to establish roots in moist soil before the hot, dry summer arrives.
