Teddy Bear Picnic Day

This is a toy-box holiday for children, and for grown-ups who never parted with their teddy. The idea is simple: take your bear along and throw it a proper picnic.

How it is celebrated: families spread a blanket in a park or garden, serve the bears sandwiches, biscuits and juice, then tuck in themselves, sing songs and play games.

The day borrows its name from the song The Teddy Bears' Picnic. John W. Bratton composed the tune in 1907, and the words that made it famous were added by Jimmy Kennedy in 1932.
