Redhead Day
September 6 · Level 3 · #1732 of 2238

Redhead Day is an informal celebration of red hair and the variety of human appearance. It gives people a reason to connect, enjoy a shared trait and challenge the teasing or stereotypes that sometimes accompany it.
How it is celebrated: gatherings, group photographs and shared portraits bring redheads together. At dedicated festivals, a hair colour that usually stands out can suddenly be everywhere.
Red hair is often associated with variants of the MC1R gene. These affect the balance between reddish-yellow pheomelanin and darker eumelanin pigments.
