Pianists' Day
November 8 · Level 3 · #1764 of 2238
Pianists' Day celebrates the people who turn keystrokes into music, from concert performers and teachers to enthusiastic amateurs. It is a chance to thank musicians and listen afresh to an instrument that accompanies everything from first lessons to grand performances.
How it is celebrated: musicians give performances, teachers receive greetings and listeners share favourite recordings. Students can play for family or friends; a living room makes a perfectly good small concert venue.
The piano's name refers to its ability to play softly and loudly. Controlling volume through the player's touch was one of the instrument's defining innovations.
