Russian Penitentiary Guard Service Day
June 30 · Level 7 · #807 of 2238
This professional observance honours the personnel who guard Russia’s penitentiary institutions. Their duties include protecting secure sites, controlling access and preventing escapes, with sustained attention and teamwork essential to the job.
How it is celebrated: units hold ceremonial assemblies, congratulate serving staff and veterans, and present departmental awards. Colleagues who died in the line of duty are also remembered.
Guarding a facility and escorting prisoners are distinct areas of service. One focuses on a secure site, while the other concerns accompanying people as they are moved outside it.
