Meteor Watch Day
June 30 · Level 9 · #341 of 2238

This is a day for looking up and hunting for shooting stars. It is a reminder that the night sky is full of action, and that your eyes and a dark spot are all the equipment you need.
How it is celebrated: sky watchers head away from city lights with blankets and flasks and wait for streaks of light. Give your eyes about twenty minutes to adjust to the dark, then simply lie back and watch.
The day shares its date with Asteroid Day. On 30 June 1908 an object exploded over Siberia near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River and flattened forest across roughly 2,000 square kilometres.
