Pediatrician Day

A day to thank the doctors who look after children's health, from the first days of life through the teenage years. It is a reminder of how much vaccinations, check-ups and an early eye for warning signs matter.

How it is celebrated: colleagues swap congratulations, parents say thank you, and clinics hold meetings and professional talks. Young patients often hand over drawings and homemade cards for their favourite doctor.

The word pediatrics comes from Greek: pais means child and iatros means healer. The date also lands on Universal Children's Day, 20 November, which suits it nicely.
