Africa Industrialization Day
November 20 · Level 10 · #210 of 2238
This day puts a simple idea in the spotlight: African countries do better when they make and process things at home instead of only exporting raw materials. It is observed under the banner of the United Nations.
How it is celebrated: conferences, panel talks and report launches bring together officials, business people and development agencies. They discuss investment, infrastructure, technology transfer and training for skilled workers.
UNIDO, the UN agency for industrial development, is among the main voices behind the day. Each 20 November serves as a yearly checkpoint for the continent's industrial plans.
