Open an Umbrella Indoors Day
March 13 · Level 4 · #1555 of 2238
A tongue-in-cheek day that dares you to challenge an old superstition: an umbrella opened indoors is said to bring bad luck. Today you are officially allowed to break the rule and see what happens.
How it is celebrated: brave souls pop open an umbrella in the living room or the office, wait for disaster, and then laugh about it with friends. It is also a good excuse to swap odd superstitions.
Umbrellas are older than most of the superstitions about them: thousands of years ago people in Egypt, China and Mesopotamia already used them as shade from the sun.
