Africa Scout Day
March 13 · Level 6 · #929 of 2238
On this day, Scouts across the African continent celebrate their movement and its values: friendship, self-reliance and care for others. It is a reminder that Scouting connects young people all over Africa.
How it is celebrated: troops gather for ceremonies, hikes and community projects such as clean-ups, while older members tell newcomers about the history of Scouting.
Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, spent his last years in Kenya and is buried in the town of Nyeri, within sight of Mount Kenya.
