Russian Navy Communications and Radio Engineering Service Day
May 7 · Level 6 · #939 of 2238
This Russian Navy observance honours communications personnel and radio engineering specialists. Their work allows ships to exchange messages, receive instructions and monitor their surroundings, even when land has disappeared beyond the horizon.
How it is celebrated: units congratulate serving specialists and veterans, hold ceremonial gatherings and present awards. Colleagues also remember shared assignments and the mentors who taught them to operate their equipment.
Radio technology aboard a ship does more than carry conversations. Radar uses reflected radio waves to detect objects and measure their distance, giving communication and surveillance a shared foundation in physics.
