How it is celebrated: Chisinau fills with fairs, tastings, folk songs and live bands. Winemakers present local grapes such as Fetească and Rară Neagră, and visitors sample the wines right at the stalls.
Beneath Mileștii Mici, kilometres of former limestone tunnels shelter millions of bottles. The collection is listed in the Guinness World Records as the largest wine collection in the world.
