International Felt Day
October 3 · Level 1 · #2061 of 2238

International Felt Day brings together felt makers and people curious about turning loose wool into fabric, figures or sculpture. It celebrates an old craft that still finds fresh uses in fashion, design and contemporary art.
How it is celebrated: makers organise exhibitions, demonstrations and beginner workshops. Visitors try wet felting with soap and water or needle felting with specialist needles, while experienced artists share techniques and finished pieces.
Felt needs no loom. Instead of weaving threads over and under one another, the process joins wool fibres directly into a dense material.
