Military Oath Day in Russia
November 21 · Level 9 · #431 of 2238

This day is about the solemn promise that service members make when they join the armed forces: to serve their country faithfully and defend it. The oath is the moment a civilian becomes a soldier.
How it is celebrated: units and garrisons hold formal parades, recruits step out in front of the ranks, and relatives travel to watch. A concert and a group photo often round off the day.
The Russian oath opens with the recruit stating his own name and solemnly swearing loyalty to the homeland, the Russian Federation. Each recruit reads it aloud before the formation and then signs the oath roll.
