International Glasses Wearers Day

International Glasses Wearers Day is an informal occasion for everyone who sees the world through lenses. It gives a practical everyday object a little attention, celebrating glasses as both a visual aid and a distinctive part of personal style.
How it is celebrated: people share bespectacled selfies, jokes and stories about favourite frames online. There is no fixed ceremony; friendly greetings and shared experiences are very much the point.
Wearable spectacles appeared in Italy in the late thirteenth century. Those early pairs had no arms extending over the ears—the familiar design came much later.
