Malbec World Day
April 17 · Level 3 · #1607 of 2238

A celebration of Malbec, the deep red grape that has become Argentina's calling card. Wine lovers and producers around the world raise a glass to it.
How it is celebrated: tastings and dinners are held in Buenos Aires, Mendoza and wine bars far beyond Argentina, and the wine is traditionally poured with grilled meat, the Argentine asado.
The date goes back to 1853, when French agronomist Michel Aimé Pouget was commissioned to bring new grape varieties to Argentina. Malbec was among them, and it took to its new home exceptionally well.
