Constitution Day in Ireland
December 29 · Level 3 · #1677 of 2238

This marks the day in 1937, 29 December, when Ireland's current Constitution came into force. It set out the framework of the modern state, including the office of President.
How it is celebrated: it is not a day off, so things stay modest, with talks, exhibitions and discussions of constitutional history, and schools and universities take a closer look at how the founding law works.
The Constitution was approved by the people in a referendum in July 1937, and in Irish it is called Bunreacht na hÉireann.
