International Whisky Day
March 27 · Level 5 · #1181 of 2238

This is an informal day for raising a glass to whisky, a spirit made from grain, water and a lot of patience. Fans around the world use it as an excuse to taste something new.
How it is celebrated: enthusiasts join tastings, visit distilleries and compare styles from different countries. Many simply pour a small measure and sip slowly, adding a drop of water to open up the aroma.
The drink even has two spellings: "whisky" is used in Scotland, Canada and Japan, while Ireland and the United States write "whiskey". By law, Scotch must be aged in oak casks for at least three years.
