International Retainer Day
July 19 · Level 2 · #1900 of 2238
This day is about retainers, the small plates and wires that hold teeth in place after braces. It is a nudge that a great smile takes discipline as well as treatment.
How it is celebrated: retainer wearers keep theirs close at work and on trips, and orthodontists remind patients to wear them as prescribed. People also like to share stories about lost and found retainer cases.
Teeth tend to drift slowly back toward their old positions, which is why orthodontists often advise wearing a retainer for years after the braces come off.
