International PhD Student Day
January 21 · Level 2 · #1950 of 2238
International PhD Student Day is an informal celebration of people who spend years shuttling between the lab, the library and a draft of their thesis. It reminds us that early-career researchers keep science moving.
How it is celebrated: universities and research communities hold seminars and meetups, and students swap advice and jokes about deadlines.
PhD stands for Doctor of Philosophy, from the Latin philosophiae doctor, even though it is awarded to researchers in almost every field, not only philosophers.
