International Day of the Midwife
May 5 · Level 4 · #1399 of 2238

International Day of the Midwife recognizes professionals who support women through pregnancy, birth and the weeks that follow. It celebrates their knowledge and care while calling attention to access to skilled support for every family.
How it is celebrated: professional associations organize gatherings, educational events and public campaigns. Midwives exchange experience, families share messages of thanks, and organizers highlight the resources and working conditions the profession needs.
A midwife's role continues beyond a baby's first cry: postnatal care for both mother and newborn is part of the work too.
