International Doctors’ Day

International Doctors’ Day is an informal occasion to thank physicians for their care, expertise and responsibility. It recognises everyday prevention, diagnosis and patient support as well as the dramatic moments when lives are saved.

How it is celebrated: where the occasion is observed, patients and colleagues share messages of thanks. Medical teams recognise individual contributions and discuss the challenges of their profession.

Doctors do not have one universally observed celebration date. National Doctors’ Days fall at different times, so an October greeting may be an extra thank-you.
