International Children's Day

International Children's Day draws attention to every child's need for safety, care, education and time to play. Alongside the festivities, it asks adults to listen to children and help make their lives better.

How it is celebrated: parks, museums and community venues host concerts, games, creative workshops and family activities. Charities organize support, while public discussions address protection from violence and help for families.

There is another international observance for children in November: World Children's Day. Its date marks the UN's adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and, later, the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
