International Caps Lock Day
October 22 · Level 7 · #810 of 2238
International Caps Lock Day is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the key that can turn a polite message into SHOUTING without warning. It is a reminder that everything has its place, even capital letters.
How it is celebrated: people type messages IN ALL CAPS, tease colleagues and swap stories about accidental key presses. The one rule is to keep it friendly, especially in the work chat.
The key descends from the shift lock on mechanical typewriters, which physically held the shift mechanism in place so typists could write capitals without keeping a key pressed down.
