International ASMR Day

ASMR, short for autonomous sensory meridian response, is the calming, tingly feeling some people get from quiet sounds and gentle movements. This day lets fans celebrate their favourite triggers and swap tips for unwinding.

How it is celebrated: fans put on headphones and settle in with whispering, crinkling paper and soft tapping. Creators post special videos, and friends trade playlists of the most soothing ones.

The term ASMR was coined in 2010 by Jennifer Allen. Before that the sensation had no shared name, and people discussed it on online forums using their own words.
