European Day of Parks
May 24 · Level 4 · #1556 of 2238

The European Day of Parks celebrates protected landscapes and the people who care for them. Organised through EUROPARC, it encourages visitors to see national and nature parks as living systems that need protection, as well as beautiful places to explore.
How it is celebrated: parks offer ranger-led walks, talks with researchers and activities for families. Visitors discover local wildlife, learn about conservation work and take part in volunteer projects.
The date recalls the creation of Europe's first national parks. Sweden established nine of them in 1909, giving the continent's national park story a remarkably ambitious start.
