Constitution Day of Ukraine

Ukraine’s Constitution Day marks the adoption of the country’s fundamental law in 1996. It puts citizens’ rights, freedoms and the responsibilities of government at the centre of attention.

How it is celebrated: official ceremonies, historical exhibitions and civic education events explore Ukraine’s constitutional history. Flowers are laid at monuments, while museums and libraries help visitors connect the document with everyday questions about rights and government.

The parliamentary session that produced the Constitution ran through the night. Ukrainians still refer to it as the “constitutional night.”
