Faceted Glass Day
September 11 · Level 2 · #1893 of 2238

Faceted Glass Day is an informal tribute to a familiar piece of Soviet everyday life. The sturdy drinking glass brings back memories of canteens, soda machines and train journeys with tea served in metal holders.
How it is celebrated: retro enthusiasts share photographs and family memories, revisit old recipes or bring out a glass and holder for tea. There is no set ceremony to follow.
This drinking vessel also worked as kitchen equipment: recipes used glasses to measure flour, sugar and liquids long before digital scales became commonplace.
