Special Operations Forces Day in Russia
February 27 · Level 10 · #8 of 2238
Russia's Special Operations Forces Day recognizes military personnel trained for particularly demanding missions. The observance highlights specialist preparation, close teamwork and the ability to operate in a wide range of conditions.
How it is celebrated: military ceremonies include awards and commendations for distinguished service. Colleagues and families congratulate serving personnel and veterans, while units remember comrades who have died.
The day entered the official calendar in 2015. Having a public observance does not make the work itself public: details of many operations and the identities of those involved remain confidential.
