Science Day in Turkmenistan
June 12 · Level 4 · #1345 of 2238
Science Day in Turkmenistan recognizes researchers and their contribution to the country's development. It brings attention to scientific achievements, introduces young people to research and encourages discussion of how discoveries can become practical tools.
How it is celebrated: universities and research institutions hold conferences, present projects and honor scientists. International scientific meetings and awards for young researchers also form part of the occasion.
The date carries an institutional connection: the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan was restored on 12 June 2007. The holiday therefore reflects the history of the country's research institutions as well as the work happening within them.
