Archivists’ Day in Kyrgyzstan
August 30 · Level 2 · #1949 of 2238

Kyrgyzstan’s Archivists’ Day recognizes the people who preserve records and help others make sense of them. Their work supports historical research, but it also serves everyday needs: an archival record can establish employment history or help someone trace family connections.
How it is celebrated: archival institutions congratulate staff, recognize professional achievements and display documents. Colleagues also meet to discuss preservation and access to their collections.
An archive can hold voices and moving images as well as paper. Photographs, sound recordings and film all need preservation methods suited to their materials.
