Archives Day in Russia
March 10 · Level 2 · #1931 of 2238
Archives Day in Russia recognizes the people who preserve the country's documentary memory. Their work helps researchers check historical accounts, families trace their roots and ordinary people find records that still matter in their lives.
How it is celebrated: archives hold document exhibitions, guided visits and talks with researchers. Visitors can discover unusual records and learn where to begin a search for relatives, buildings or former workplaces.
An old record can have a very practical use: documents about employment and education may help establish someone's work history and pension entitlements.
