World Writers’ Day
March 3 · Level 4 · #1507 of 2238
World Writers’ Day recognizes the people behind the books and the freedom to put ideas into words. It is a chance to appreciate a favourite author and consider the patient work behind a story that seems effortless to read.
How it is celebrated: libraries and literary groups arrange author conversations, readings and book discussions. Writers share their experience, while readers discover unfamiliar voices or revisit much-loved works.
The name of the international writers’ association PEN does double duty: it names a writing tool and refers to poets, playwrights, editors, essayists and novelists.
