World Table Tennis Day
April 23 · Level 9 · #250 of 2238
World Table Tennis Day celebrates a sport that brings people together across ages, abilities and experience levels. Taking part and enjoying a rally matter more than collecting trophies.
How it is celebrated: clubs, schools and community groups run open sessions, friendly matches and beginner lessons. Inclusive activities help more people join in, while experienced players demonstrate the skills behind that deceptively small ball.
Table tennis has even helped open diplomatic doors. An American team's visit to China in 1971 became a landmark in what is now known as ping-pong diplomacy.
