World Social Work Day

World Social Work Day recognises the people who help others navigate difficult circumstances and exercise their rights. It also highlights a bigger part of their work: challenging the barriers that leave people without support or opportunity.

How it is celebrated: professional associations host talks, meetings and discussions about practice. Social workers exchange experience and draw attention to the needs of people who are often overlooked.

The date moves every year because the observance falls on the third Tuesday in March. March 17 is only sometimes its place on the calendar.
