World Rock Paper Scissors Day
August 27 · Level 7 · #690 of 2238

This day is for the simplest referee in the world: a game that settles who washes the dishes, who orders the pizza and who goes first. All it takes is two hands and a couple of seconds.
How it is celebrated: friends and colleagues hold mini tournaments at their desks, and the keenest players organise full championships with brackets and prizes. It is also a fine day to settle old office questions, like whose turn it is to wash the mugs.
In 2005 the auction houses Christie's and Sotheby's played the game to decide which of them would sell a Japanese company's art collection. Christie's won.
