World Octopus Day
October 8 · Level 7 · #815 of 2238
World Octopus Day is a salute to one of the ocean's cleverest and strangest animals. It invites people to look closer at octopuses and to care about the seas they live in.
How it is celebrated: aquariums and conservation groups share octopus stories and talks, kids draw and sculpt eight-armed heroes, and nature fans settle in with documentaries about life underwater.
An octopus has three hearts and blue blood, because its blood carries oxygen with a copper-based protein.
