World Day for Safety and Health at Work
April 28 · Level 7 · #674 of 2238

Everyone should be able to finish a working day with their health intact. This observance puts the prevention of workplace injuries and occupational diseases in the spotlight, encouraging employers and workers to tackle hazards before someone gets hurt.
How it is celebrated: workplaces hold safety discussions, offer training and check protective equipment. Unions, employers and safety specialists share practical improvements, from better ventilation to instructions people can actually understand.
The International Labour Organization began observing the day in 2003. The date already had a place in the labour movement as a time to remember workers killed or injured at work.
