World Lymphedema Day
March 6 · Level 1 · #2017 of 2238

Lymphedema is long-term swelling that appears when lymph fluid cannot drain properly from the tissues. This day puts a spotlight on a condition that is often spotted late and supports the people who live with it.
How it is celebrated: patient groups and clinicians host webinars, share personal stories and explain why early diagnosis, skin care, compression garments and gentle exercise matter. Many people simply help spread reliable information.
The lymphatic system has no central pump like the heart. Lymph is pushed along by moving muscles and by tiny valves inside the vessels, which is why movement helps so much.
