International Tourist Guide Day
February 21 · Level 3 · #1599 of 2238

Tourist guides can turn a street, a painting or a ruined wall into a story worth remembering. This day recognises their knowledge and the skill it takes to make local heritage understandable and welcoming.
How it is celebrated: guide associations offer free tours for local residents, including activities for children and people with disabilities. Guides also attend workshops and share ideas for helping different audiences enjoy a visit.
The date commemorates the founding of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations. Its first celebration in 1990 already involved 15 countries.
