World Romani Language Day
November 5 · Level 4 · #1510 of 2238

This day is devoted to the Romani language and the people who speak it. It reminds us that a language is part of a living culture and needs to be cherished and passed on to children.
How it is celebrated: Romani organisations and their friends hold gatherings, poetry and song readings, talks about the language and open lessons.
Romani belongs to the Indo-Aryan branch, the same family as the languages of northern India. Today it is spoken across many European countries, in a wide range of dialects.
