World Creativity and Innovation Day

World Creativity and Innovation Day celebrates fresh thinking as a way to improve lives. This UN observance looks beyond the arts: creativity also belongs in classrooms, laboratories, businesses and community projects.

How it is celebrated: workshops, project exhibitions and collaborative sessions give people room to try ideas. Participants share experiments, explore unfamiliar approaches and discuss what they learned when a plan did not work.

The day closes World Creativity and Innovation Week. The week begins on Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday, linking the occasion to someone whose work crossed art and invention.
