Work Like a Dog Day
August 5 · Level 6 · #1001 of 2238
A playful day built on the phrase "to work like a dog", and a nod to the real four-legged workers behind it. It is a good excuse to attack that long-postponed to-do list with doggy enthusiasm.
How it is celebrated: people tackle tasks they have been putting off, set up friendly who-gets-more-done contests at the office, and say thanks to working dogs. Then they reward the pet at home with a well-earned treat.
Dogs really do hold jobs: they guide blind people, herd sheep, pull sleds, search for people in rubble and assist rescuers. Many breeds were developed for one particular kind of work.
