Swedish Heritage Day in Finland
November 6 · Level 3 · #1787 of 2238

Swedish Heritage Day in Finland celebrates the language and culture of Swedish-speaking Finns. It recognises their place in the country's shared history and the continuing life of Swedish in Finnish society.
How it is celebrated: concerts, literary programmes, school celebrations and community gatherings bring people together. Finland's flag is flown for the occasion, and Swedish-language songs feature in festive events.
Swedish is one of Finland's two national languages, alongside Finnish. The day therefore celebrates a living part of the country's public life as well as its cultural heritage.
