Saxophone Day
November 6 · Level 5 · #1198 of 2238
A day for the instrument with the warm, husky voice that is hard to imagine jazz without. It is held on the birthday of the man who invented it.
How it is celebrated: musicians hold jam sessions and small concerts, schools and clubs run workshops, and listeners put on their favourite saxophone recordings.
Adolphe Sax was born on 6 November 1814 in Dinant, Belgium, and patented the saxophone in Paris in 1846.
