Social Protection Workers' Day in Belarus
January 5 · Level 2 · #2009 of 2238

This is the professional day of the people who support others in hard times: older people, people with disabilities and families with children. Their work is rarely in the spotlight, yet it decides whether someone in need feels backed up.
How it is celebrated: managers and officials congratulate colleagues, and the best workers receive certificates and thanks. Local social service centres host get-togethers with veterans of the field and the people they look after, often with a small concert and tea.
Belarus has a network of territorial social service centres, and their social workers visit older people at home to help with everyday tasks.
